The closed loop Cooling Water System in Oxygen Plant recycles the cooling water used in the machines and equipment. The heated water is cooled and re-circulated.

Nitrogen is used for SMS converter splashing and hood sealing, for hot metal stirring (when argon is not available) in SMS, for instruments and seal gas in compressors in Oxygen Plant, for gas line purging in different shops of DSP, in instruments in BFce, as carrier gas in BFce CDI and for providing inert atmosphere wherever required. Compressed nitrogen is sent through network of pipelines to various customers from the oxygen plant. There are three nitrogen compressors in the oxygen plant; two are in operation and one standby.
