Executive Leadership Programme (ELP)
The Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) is SAIL's flagship leadership development initiative for newly promoted Deputy General Managers (E6). Conducted in collaboration with premier management institutions—IIM Nagpur, IIM Raipur, and IIM Ranchi—the programme is designed to enhance leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, business acumen, and organizational effectiveness.
The programme follows a structured three-phase learning journey followed by Monthly cohort sessions:
Phase I – Classroom Learning
A five-day residential programme at the partnering IIM, focusing on:
- Strategic Leadership
- Business Acumen
- Digital Intelligence
- Decision Making
- Innovation and Organizational Excellence
Phase II – Action Learning Project
Participants undertake an Action Learning Project addressing a strategic organizational challenge, typically in areas such as:
- Sustainability
- Safety
- Digital Transformation
- Operational Excellence
The project is supported through virtual mentoring and faculty guidance.
Phase III – Integration & Assessment
Participants return to the IIM for advanced learning sessions, project presentations, peer learning, and final assessments, integrating classroom concepts with practical organizational application.
Learning Community
To foster continuous learning beyond the classroom, participants remain connected through batch-specific WhatsApp groups and periodic engagement activities. The programme also provides opportunities for cross-cohort learning, networking, and knowledge sharing among ELP participants across different batches and partner institutes.
