This program is a foundation course on the SAIL Managerial Competency Framework. It provides initial inputs on all the key managerial competencies in the framework - personal effectiveness, people management, execution excellence, change management, customer orientation, managing external stakeholders, strategic orientation and business acumen. It also covers the integration of all these competencies.

AIM
Aim of the module is to enable learners to reduce downtime for changing discharge door cylinder in Reheating Furnace.
Objective
At the end of the module the participants will be able to
• Learn about discharge system of Reheating furnace
• Understanding causes of delay in changing door cylinder
• Identify method for changing discharge door cylinder.
• Learn fabrication and installation of mechanical locking system of line shaft of reheating furnace door .
Solution provided
• We have devised an innovative solution to reduce the time taken in changing hydraulic cylinder .
• Most of the time is lost in waiting for the furnace to cool (approx 4-5 hrs) so that locking of line shaft can be done by welding it.
• The purpose of welding the line shift is to prevent the discharge door from falling.
• We have fabricated circular disc and pedestal for Mechanical locking system.
• Now instead of welding the line shaft which was time taking process and we have to wait for the furnace to cool down, it was only required to insert the pin in the disc and the pedestal .
• The new method requires very less time .
Target :
- RHF Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
