After several successful runs of the programme on Modern Maintenance Management Techniques for Young Managers it is thought that Resource Persons will be developed to carry out further work on Reliability Centered Maintenance at the respective plants as well as conduct training programmes on this important area. The present programme is an effort in this direction. 

The basic idea of this programme is to make the participants abreast of the different facets of Reliability Centered Maintenance through different sessions. Some additional sessions are added to give them inputs with regard to conducting programme on Reliability Centered Maintenance at their workplace.

The idea of Reliability centered Maintenance (RCM) generated from the civil aviation industry, where it is known as MSG3. The framework of this Maintenance philosophy was developed over a period of more than 30 years. In these years this philosophy has moved beyond the boundaries of civil aviation industry and has been applied successfully in many other industries.

The present programme will deal with following areas of RCM:

1) Introduction

2) Concept of Failure Mechanism

3) Functions, Functional Failures, Failure Modes and Failure Consequences of equipment / components

4) RCM Decision Diagram

5) Selection of Maintenance Tasks based on criticality of Failure 

Apart from the theoretical inputs the participants will be applying their understanding of the concept on some of the available equipment for more holistic learning.   

Aim: The program aims at imparting the knowledge of basic working of blast furnace and associated sections for new entrants.
